What is HUMSS?
It is one of the strand offered to Senior High school. This strand can develop your confidence for you to face the community because HUMSS is for the FUTURE PUBLIC SERVANT.
Let’s start with a brief explanation of what is HUMSS strand all about. HUMSS stands for Humanities and Social Sciences. This strand mainly focuses on the study of human behavior and societal changes, and analysis of arts, culture, literature, and politics. This strand covers a wide range of disciplines that delve into the investigation and inquiry of the human conditions that uses empirical, analytical, and critical methods. It’s subjects include political science, anthropology, linguistics, psychology, and communication.

What does students do in HUMSS?
In HUMSS students tends to develop the necessary knowledge and skills in bringing about positive change through the study of social science theories and concepts, community-based realities, study of culture, society and politics, discussion on moral issues.
WHAT ABOUT THE SUBJECTS?
Communication Arts
With various communication disciplines, techniques, and skills learned from the strand, you can become a diplomat, a journalist, a writer, a lawyer among others.
Economics and Sociology
If you’ve got the guts and ideals to go into politics, civic leadership, or community work, the HUMMS got you covered. You can also be involved with careers on history, public administration, social work, anthropology, environmental planning, or theology.
Education
Possible careers under the HUMMS track also include professionals on literature, philosophy, guidance counselling, linguistics, Philippine Studies, and English. At the HUMMS curriculum, you will deal with human experiences through which your lessons would be developed.
Psychology
Other fields that you could qualify are psychotherapy, market research, criminology, and military science.

This is for those who are considering taking up journalism, communication arts, liberal arts, education, and other social science-related courses in college. Also, it helps you to fasten the seat belt for you when you're entering college and to strengthen your logical reasoning. Humanities teach many fundamental skills such as critical thinking, analysis, and creativity.
If you take this strand, you could be looking forward to becoming a teacher, a psychologist, a lawyer, a writer, a social worker, or a reporter someday.
